In an effort to help those looking for a way to replace a Becker BE1432 two-piece radio in their 1991-1993 Mercedes with a modern single-piece radio, this page should help.

The Becker BE1432 uses a standard looking head unit in the dash that is connected via large bus cable to a tuner module located in the trunk.  All audio signals travel through the tuner module.  If you also have a stock CD changer, it is also connected to the tuner pack.

Here is a simplified diagram of the arrangement:

The signal path travels from the head unit to the tuner--to the CD changer if selected--back to the tuner--to the fader control in the console--to the amp(s) in the trunk or under the seats--to the speakers.  Replacing this radio with a single-piece radio is not simple because of the complex wiring present in these cars.

HOW CAN I REPLACE MY RADIO?

Installing an Audio 10 in your 1991-1993 is possible but requires some re-wiring.  Most people just run new wires from the radio to the speakers.  You will also need to extend the antenna cable from the trunk to dash.  These are easy to find for around $10.00.  I have had several customers tell me their audio shop charged less than $100.00 for the job.

I have the wiring plug with leads available in the Harness Adaptors page for $12.00.
